Canada is very well connected.
 
In 1999 42% of households had an internet connection, in 2003 this was up to over 64 %, with 65 % of those having access to High Speed Service.

It is used mainly for E-mail, electronic banking, shopping and gathering information. It is also used by more and more entrepreneurs having an online business and from May 2005 to May 2006 the participation of Canadians on such popular auction sites as the well known eBay grew by 22 %.
 
Cybertip.ca is Canada's National Tipline for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children. It is a centralized web portal for receiving and addressing reports from the public regarding child pornography, luring, child sex tourism, and children who are exploited through prostitution.
 
Cybertip.ca also provides the public with information, referrals and other resources to help Canadians keep their children safe while surfing the Net.
 
Since launching Cybertip.ca in September 2002, the tipline has forwarded reports to law enforcement that have resulted in 17 arrests and the removal of as many as 1000 websites.
